A beautiful and very unique fully mounted shinogi-zukuri katana in 1075 by Rick Barrett. The saya is constructed of red alder with polished buffalo horn fittings. The deep swirls of color were achieved by combining a red base with a black dusting followed by multiple coats of lacquer to achieve a lusterous high gloss finish that is very three dimensional. A matching high quality red & black sageo adds the finishing touch. The tsuka is 11.5 inches and is constructed of red alder with a full same wrap for strength. It was then given a final covering using the skin of the western Diamondback rattler. The back of the snake skin is on the omote side with the belly on the ura side. Black doeskin leather ito, stone textured copper fuchi/kashira by Patrick Hastings, and menuki of raw copper Arizona globules finish off this high quality tsuka. The tsuba is by Rick Barrett and is damascus steel finished in a traditional brown patina. Habaki is copper and silver mokume accented by copper seppa. All copper parts have been finished in a traditional Rokusho Patina. Comes with sword bag..
